The International League has been in continuous operation, excepting the 2020 season, since 1902. Originally christened as the Eastern League, the name was changed in 1912. When MLB reorganized the minor leagues in 2021 the IL was called the Triple-A East. For the 2022 season the International League name was restored.
Many of the earliest Official International League baseballs were repurposed National or American League balls. The IL stamp appeared on either the east panel or the sweet spot.
