The modern Texas League was formed in 1902, but direct predecessors date back to 1888. Apart from the usual war-years suspension of play (’42-’45) and the cancellation of all MiLB schedules in 2020, the league operated continuously until the last Basic Agreement with MLB expired following the 2020 season. In 2021 the league was reorganized and dubbed the Double-A Central, but was back to the Texas League moniker prior to the 2022 season.
